TCI's English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) courses are designed to assist students whose primary language is not English. The ESL Program consists of three levels: High Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced. The courses focus on academic English and English for the workplace. Major areas covered include aural/oral communications, reading and vocabulary, and writing and structure. In certain cases, ESL courses may be taken at the same time as credit-bearing courses. To provide more individualized instruction and practice in the mechanics of writing, the writing classes include extensive use of computer assisted language programs. In addition, all communications courses are taught in a state-of-the-art language laboratory. |
